Mike, maybe because anybody who only believes in monogamy is backwards, unenlightened or simply stupid? Could be! The “created like that” and “healthy society” thing are just your opinion.

Why do you attempt to make people who believe in monogamy sound backwards, unenlightened, or simply stupid?

“monogamy is OK for people to be as well, regardless of whether it is because one is not being mature to handle being poly, not being open-minded enough, brain-washed by society, whatever people have called it.”

What about being monogamous because it is the way we were created? Or because it is the most positive system for a healthy society?

Having spent the last 15 months attempting to re-open my marriage, I have come to know a great deal about polyamory. Polys spend an inordinate amount of time debating the meaning of the term and deciding who is and is not in the club. Swingers are/are not, poly is/is not about sex, etc. As you correctly point out, without the sexual component, it’s just friendship and therefore non-threatening. And unless you’re married, seeing more than one person IS DATING!!

Poly comes into it when you’re married and having more than one lover on a steady basis. It’s not for everyone, and for that reason, is a Pandora’s Box in most cases. Drop by and you can see how it has been a struggle for us.
